Go where you are needed. Pediatrix Medical Group is rapidly expanding their locations across the United States, and AMB is supporting them on the journey. Alyse Makarewicz is now a registered architect in Colorado and Florida in addition to Texas.
Night Light Pediatrics initially hired AMB Architects in 2015 to provide interior architecture services. Their pediatric urgent care locations, typically in retail strip centers, prioritize easy access and convenient parking. Interior space needed to be highly functional, yet spacious enough for active little bodies that can’t always sit still. And it needed to be fun! AMB’s design included pops of color and the coordination of custom painted murals to make each location unique and geared to kids. We completed seven Night Light Pediatrics locations across Houston between 2015 and 2020.
In early 2021, Pediatrix Medical Group (formerly Mednax) acquired Night Light Pediatrics. The acquisition fulfills the Pediatrix mission to provide pediatric ‘total care’ – primary care, telehealth, and urgent/acute care. Pediatrix set ambitious expansion goals and tapped AMB to assist. We have built two locations so far and are part of the design team for 12 more Pediatrix locations in the U.S. Alyse obtained her registration in Colorado and Florida to support this effort; she is in the process of becoming registered in Nevada and Georgia.
Pediatrix retained AMB to provide lease review for architectural related items, field verification of existing shell space, space planning, pricing plans, design development, applying interior finish standards, construction documentation, permitting services, construction administration, and project management. We are also using this project to hone our expertise with the 3D technology platform Matterport. More details about that will be coming!
Night Light Pediatrics/Pediatrix has been a great example of how streamlined the project delivery process can be. AMB has developed design standards that include establishing programming ratios that can be implemented in spaces with unique square footage. More on these design standards is to come in the following blog post.
