Pediatrix is growing fast and has aggressive expansion plans over the next three years. The national health care provider specializes in total care for moms-to-be and their newborns. Their clinics provide prenatal services, pediatric primary care, high-risk newborn healthcare, telehealth, and urgent/acute care. Pediatrix hired AMB Architects to develop space standards in conjunction with fixture/equipment standards for their new clinics, making the design process more efficient.
Pediatrix acquired Houston-area NightLight Pediatric Urgent Care in March 2021, and plans to expand its clinics across Texas and into surrounding states. The expansion calls for at least ten new locations per year for the next three years.
The Pediatrix Brookhollow location is the newest clinic built to date incorporating the new standards. AMB worked in tandem with Urban Chalet and the PediatriX team to solidify the aesthetic look for the clinic. It features splashes of color like a calming deep blue and seafoam green, paired with natural wood finishes, and fun character-based environmental graphics.
The reception area features two interactive digital fish tanks patients can use while they wait for their appointment. A variety of vibrant chairs and benches offer ample seating. Seating fabrics are all durable and easy to clean. The reception area also has a foldable wall so the space can be subdivided for events and workshops throughout the year. Pediatrix wanted to maximize square footage of each clinic, and adding a multipurpose component to the reception area is an inexpensive solution.
Color-coded wall graphics and large room numbers make it easy for patients and their caregivers to find their rooms. As with all the finish materials, solid plastic laminated doors are a durable and cost-effective option. Each exam rooms includes birch-look upper and lower cabinets accompanied by a solid colored storage cabinet. The backsplash above the exam room work area is geometric and a cool white color to juxtapose the warmth of the flooring and millwork. The playful graphics are carried into each exam room through framed wall art. Rooms are amply sized to give active patients space to move. Large bench soft seating can easily accommodate multiple caregivers.
