Law firm Spencer Fane’s Houston office occupied the same floor of the 3040 Post Oak tower in Houston’s Galleria area for over 20 years. The firm wanted a facelift. And a new view.
Spencer Fane has over 21 offices throughout the United States; their teams work with businesses on a wide variety of legal needs. After spending 20+ years in the same space, it became clear that to give the firm the facelift it desired, it would be time to move. One floor up in the same building! Spencer Fane brought in AMB Architects to complete a space assessment, programming, planning and interior architecture. The result is a completely transformed look and feel for the office.
Leading the design team, Breann Nash worked with the firm to articulate their vision for a traditional law firm with modern appeal. Using timeless materials such as wood and marble in modern ways, the wow factor begins with a woven wood wall behind the reception desk. Large format grey marble tile enhances the grand scale of the lobby and continues through the corridors to the glass-front conference rooms. Zoom video meeting capability is built into each of the two boardrooms, five conference rooms, and large war room. Need privacy? With the press of a button the glass of the boardroom snaps opaque. A hospitality bar nearby allows guests access to beverages while they wait on their appointment.
Serving over 60 team members is a large breakroom complete with a blue marble look quartz island and striking blue tile backsplash, a nod to the corporate colors. Each Legal Aid workstation is custom built and strategically placed to optimize workflow with partners.
Spencer Fane invested their budget with a focus on head count, storage needs, and staff amenities. The lobby is meant to be a showstopper, with a cool, modern aesthetic featuring high end finishes and intricate details. The woven wood lobby feature wall is echoed in the ceiling detail of the two main conference rooms. Given the amount of time spent in the break room, Spencer Fane wanted ample space, quality finishes, and easy access to food/drink storage and prep.
